Importing references to Covidence

  • Instructions to import files in  Covidence Support. 
  • Covidence supports these file formats:
  1. RIS
  2. PubMed format (Covidence does not support .nbib format)
  3. EndNote XML​

 

  • Click Import on the Review Summary page to import reference files
  • Usually references are imported to Screen (title and abstract level screening).
  • You can also name the database from which the references are being imported.
  • Covidence can import up to 15,000 references at a time. The maximum file size is 50 MB.

  • When loading references, the program automatically performs a duplicate check. This removes overlaps in the result lists.
  • Duplicates can be viewed via the duplicates link. References can be restored for review if necessary.

  • Under the "View details" heading, you can view information about each import. Here you can see f.ex:

    • The number of duplicates
    • The number of merged references. Separate articles published from the same study can be merged using the Merge function. Merging also happens automatically Read more about the Merge feature on Covidencen's website.
    • The original database of the references
    • The "Undo import" button allows you to cancel the import as long as the screening of the references has not yet started.

Adding full text to Covidence

  • Using DOI link to get full text instead of uploading PDF files is recommended.
  • Distributing Oulu University / Oamk subscription content to external users is prohibited.
