Oulu University Library is a scientific library open to all public. To borrow material you need a library card, which you can get by visiting any of our library locations. Be sure to bring your photo ID with you.
As a customer of Oulu University Library, you are committed to complying with Library Borrowing Rules and Rules of Use of the Library.
Oulu University Library has four locations:
To pick up and return material you can use any of the locations. Check the opening hours for each location as they vary.
You can search for material from the library's collection by using Oula-Finna database. To place holds or renew loans you need to login to Oula-Finna. You can login with your e-mail address or by creating a Finna account, see instructions in Oula-Finna.
With the library card you can borrow books and magazines from all the library locations. Most of the e-materials are available only in the library, on workstations reserved for this purpose. Remote access to e-materials is possible only for the students and staff of University of Oulu and Oamk.
Please notice that some books and magazines can be used only in the Pegasus Library reading room. This is the case with very old books and magazines, and the material that belongs to Legal Deposit Collection. Reading room material needs to be requested in advance from the library storage space (see instructions for requests in Oula-Finna). All library's facilities with the exception of group study rooms are open for use. Bring your own laptop or mobile device, as the workstations in the library are limited to students and staff. The library has few open workstation dedicated for using Oula-Finna or reading e-materials.
In Pegasus Library, customers have access to a coin-operated multifunction device for scanning, copying and printing. Copies and prints cost 20 cents each. The scan function can be turned on with one 20 cent coin. Be prepared with your own coins, as there is no cash register in the library.
