Open access publishing and self-archiving

Elsevier

The discount is 50% of the journal’s APC-list price (APC=article processing charge). The list prices and the list of journals included are on FinElib webpage. ACP prices are also on journal homepages.

Preconditions of receiving the discount:

  • Corresponding author of the article is affiliated to the University of Oulu.
  • The article is accepted to be published in one of the journals having this option (see the list from FinElib-webpage)
  • The article is accepted between 15.1.2018-31.12.2020.

Please ensure that you have the funding for the discounted APC payment.

Wiley

There are no more "free" open access articles for the year 2020.

FinELib consortium’s agreement with Wiley enables the researchers to publish their articles open access in Wiley’s Full OA and hybrid journals during the agreement term 2020–2022.

In 2020, approximately 53% of articles published by the authors of the subscribing institutions can be published open access without additional charge (Article Processing Charge, APC). In years 2021–2022, approximately 100% of articles can be published open access without additional cost.

American Chemical Society (ACS)

FinELib consortium’s agreement with ACS Publications (a division of the American Chemical Society) offers authors an opportunity to publish their articles under an Open Access CC BY -license for free using granted credits. This means that there is no article processing charge for the author. The credits can be used during the agreement term 1.1.2018-31.12.2020.

There is a limited amount of free credits annually.

Royal Society of Chemistry

Researchers can publish their articles open access in Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC) hybrid journals without additional payment. Open access publishing is free for the researcher, since the costs have been covered as a part of FinELib consortium’s agreement (1.1.2020 – 31.12.2021).

BioMed Central

Since the library is a supporting member of BioMed Central, researchers at the University of Oulu get 15 % discount on BioMed Central, Chemistry Central and Springer Open article processing charges.

Springer Nature

FinELib consortium’s agreement with Springer Nature includes open access publishing in Springer’s hybrid titles during the agreement term 1.10.2018-31.12.2020.

IEEE

FinELib consortium’s agreement with IEEE offers authors an opportunity to publish their articles open access with a CC BY license in IEEE's fully open access journals for free.

No article processing charge for the author. However the author may be responsible for color, page or reprint charges.

The credits can be used for articles accepted for publication during 20.1.2020 - 31.12.2020 (while the free credits have not been used up).

There is a limited amount of free credits annually (there are no more free credits for 2020) . For each OA-article one credit will be considered used.

Wolters Kluwer/Lippincott

FinELib consortium’s agreement with Wolters Kluwer Health offers authors an opportunity to publish their articles under the CC BY or CC BY-NC-ND license with a free open access. This means that there is no article processing charge for the author. The free vouchers can be used during the agreement term 1.1.2018-31.12.2022.

There is a limited amount of free vouchers annually per organization. The number of available free vouchers will decrease each time an author uses the waiver code. This page will be updated when the vouchers have been depleted.

A worldwide consortium initiated by CERN, whose objective is to convert journals in the field of high energy physics into open access journals, regardless of their publisher. The University of Oulu is a member of the SCOAP3 consortium through FinELib.
