The basic information on university staff members and doctoral researchers (personal details, title, unit, ORCID) are automatically imported into OuluCRIS from the university’s other data systems (Mepco and Peppi). The data are updated daily. You can also enter optional information about your fields of expertise into your profile. Remember to keep the information about your expertise up to date.
When you log into OuluCRIS for the first time, do as follows:
- To view your own profile in OuluCRIS, go to Home > My profile- button (or in the upper right corner: down arrow > My profile).
- Check your basic information (name, unit, identifiers)
- To edit your profile, click Edit profile in the upper right corner.
- Researchers’ profiles are public by default, if their work or other contractual relationship with the university is in force or if they are enrolled as postgraduate students at the university. If you wish to change the visibility of your profile, go to Visibility of profile on the Edit profile page. If Visibility of profile is set to No, other users will not be able to view your profile page (your publications and other output remain public, however).
- Check your publication and other data. Report any insufficient or erroneous data to: oulucris@oulu.fi.
- You can add your ORCID identifier to your profile by linking it to the university’s data systems.
- When you edit your profile, remember to save the changes by clicking Save in the upper right corner.
Adding optional information
The data imported from other systems are in greyed out fields, and they cannot be edited on the Edit profile page in OuluCRIS. You can edit for example the following data:
- Name displayed in profile - the name you use in your research and are identified by ("known as" name)
- Name displayed in publication – the name you use in your research and are identified by (“publishing name”). The system will add this name to all your data in OuluCRIS.
- Previous name is not visible in the profile or to other users; it serves as additional information to publication data reviewers.
- presentation text / summary of research and teaching areas
- academic degree
- fields of expertise
- fields of science
- language skills
- links to your profiles in other services: Acedemia.edu, Facebook, GoogleScholar, LinkedIn, Mastodon, Pubmed, ResearchGate, Scopus, Tiedejatutkimus.fi, Threads, Web of Science, X. In addition you can use the Custom Link option to add links to services other than the ones listed above.
