Publisher's Guide – Information about publishing: APC-charges

Article processing charges (APC-charges)

Many scientific publishers charge an APC-charge (Article Processing Charge) for open access publishing. Charges range from a few tens of euros to thousands of euros. There are also Open Access journals that do not charge an author fee.

  1. Use open access publication channel without APC fees: The primary goal is to find a high-quality open access publishing channel for the article that does not charge APC fees or at least allows self archiving of the peer-reviewed manuscript version without an embargo, i.e., a publication delay. The publishers' self archiving conditions can be checked in the Open Policy Finder.
  2. Project funding: If you are publishing as part of a project, use project funding to cover the article processing charge (APC) whenever possible.
  3. FinELib Agreements: Take advantage of the APC benefits available through FinELib’s journal agreements, which enable publishing free of charge or with a discounted author fee (see the right-hand column for details on publishing open access in Elsevier’s SD Freedom and Emerald’s Premier journals).
  4. Oamk's funding: Make use of Oamk’s funding for APC charges.
