Open access publishing and self-archiving: OuluREPO repository

The University of Oulu open access repository OuluREPO contains:

• All doctoral theses and other publications published in the series Acta Universitatis Ouluensis
• Doctoral theses and other publications published in other University of Oulu publication series and elsewhere
• Self-archived publications of the University of Oulu (from 01/2017)
• Openly published theses: Bachelor's theses, pro gradu theses, diploma theses, as well as advanced studies theses of the Faculty of Medicine.

Most of the publications are openly accessible and some only on OuluREPO workstations.

There`s an OuluREPO workstation in the Pegasus Library 3rd floor and Medical Library. The workstation provides access to all theses that have been approved at the University of Oulu since the switch to electronic publishing of theses.

The use of the material and the workstation are regulated by the Copyright Act (404/1961):

• content can be read
• digital copying of the content is not possible
• the files cannot be saved on storage media
• the files cannot be sent by email.

In OuluREPO you can limit your search to specific search fields. To view the field names and their values, click ”Show full item record” at the bottom left (below the copyright information) of the publication’s page in OuluREPO.

Enter into the search box the whole field name, a colon, and the search term or phrase. Make sure that there are no spaces before or after the colon. When searching for an author enter the name in quotation marks.

Click the “cog” icon at the top right of the search results listing to sort the results for example by issue date or title.

You can use Boolean operators (AND, OR, NOT) in OuluREPO searches. The operators must always be entered in UPPERCASE LETTERS.

• AND  find records that contain all the search terms
• OR     find records that contain at least one of the search terms
• NOT  exclude words from your search

You can also perform searches in Oula-Finna, where the search functions are easier to use.
