Publisher's Guide – Information about publishing: Self-archiving

Self-archiving

Self-archiving (Green OA, parallel publishing) means that the publication that has been published before, is stored in the open archive where it can be found by anyone. In Oamk the publications are self-archived in Theseus at the same time that the publication data is submitted to Justus. If the publishing agreement allows, also monographs and teaching material can be self-archived. Self-archived pdf's are also linked to the publication information in the tiedejatutkimus.fi-service.

Permits for self-archiving

Request permission for self-archiving from other authors. Verbal permission is sufficient. Request permission for the publishing of pictures, maps and other copyrighted materials (prepared by somebody else than the author).

The library checks and/or acquires the publisher permission.

Articles published openly under a Creative Commons (CC) license: the library self-archives the publisher's version of the publication.

Scientific articles that have not been openly published: submit the article's final draft file (post print/Accepted Author Manuscript, AAM) i.e. the last corrected and peer reviewed version (PDF) upon publication of the publication information.

The publications of Oamk Journal are self-archived in Theseus by the editorial board.

Other publications: please provide permission for self-archiving when submitting publication information.

Why self-archive?

  • Improves the visibility of publications. Publications in Theseus can be found well with search engines.
  • Improves the accessibility of the publications. Publications are openly available from everywhere.
  • Guarantees permanent preservation of publications.
  • Provides a permanent address for the publication, with which it is easy to share the publication, e.g. on social media.
  • Does not affect copyright. They stay with authors and/or publishers.
