Timing: The course is held only during period 1.
Target group: Students in ITE degree program of the Faculty of Education and Psychology.
Connections to other courses: The course is a mandatory part of the Basic Course in Qualitative Research 407041A.
Objectives: Upon completion of the course, the student can search scientific information, can use the most important databases of their discipline, knows how to evaluate search results and information sources and understands the importance of reference management.
Contents: Scientific information retrieval process: finding search terms, the most important databases and publication channels of the discipline, evaluation of the reliability of information sources and reference management.
Teaching methods: Lectures 8 h and self-study 19 h.

Assessment criteria: Passing the course requires attendance at lectures and completion of the course assignments.
Assessment scale: Pass/fail. Pass corresponds to a grade of 3.

Instructions for logging into the Moodle workspace will be sent to registered participants by email before the course begins.
Absence from your own group's session can be compensated by attending a corresponding session (in Finnish) of another group. Ask your teacher for group information. One absence is allowed but must be compensated with additional tasks.
