Referencing sources is a fundamental principle of academic writing. A publication will then include both in-text citations and a reference list. The in-text citation directs the reader to the reference list at the end of the document, which contains the details of the sources cited in the text.
List all the sources you have cited in your work in the reference list so that:
- the reader has sufficient information to identify and locate the referenced publication and can verify the accuracy of the claims made,
- you distinguish your own ideas from those of others, give credit where it is due, and avoid committing plagiarism.
