The citation style for Acta series is APA. If necessary you can use IEEE citation style in the C series. Also other citation styles can be used (B series) but agree on the matter with a series editor.

The series Acta Universitatis Ouluensis has switched from APA 6^th to APA 7^th edition citation style. One notable change has to do with DOIs. Note the change and carefully check the DOIs also in the pre-filled Acta template, in chapters List of original publications (p. 13) and Original publications (p. 35). In APA 7^th the DOI is formatted as a clickable URL as follows: https://doi.org/10.1080/15402002.2016.1163702 (may also begin with http://).
In the IEEE citation style DOI is formatted as follows: doi:10.1109/TCOMM.2012.020612.090300

The Acta editors recommend that doctoral candidates use Mendeley for reference management, as for example use of Microsoft Word’s built-in bibliography builder causes technical and compatibility problems and unnecessary work.

RefWorks

The University of Oulu's order for the RefWorks reference management program ends on December 31, 2021

You can transfer your references in RefWorks to another reference management program, such as Zotero and Mendeley.

Note that references in Word or another word processor can not be automatically converted to another reference manager.
