Sisältö ja käyttö

  • Tietokanta sisältää Wiley-kustantamon e-lehtiä ja e-kirjoja eri tieteenaloilta.
  • Ostettuja kirjoja ja lehtiä ei voi erikseen hakea, vaan haun jälkeen:
    • Otsikon yläpuolella olevasta tekstistä (Full Access, Open Access, Free Access) näkee, pääseekö kokotekstiä lukemaan Wileyn tietokannassa.
    • Yliopiston Wiley-tilaus: University of Oulu Outbound Linking -linkillä voi tarkistaa, onko artikkelin kokoteksti jossakin toisessa tietokannassa.
  • Artikkeleita ja kirjoja luetaan selaimessa.
  • Artikkelit, kirjojen luvut ja kirjat ovat ladattavissa PDF-muodossa, osa kirjoista myös EPUB-muodossa.
  • Ei rajoituksia samanaikaisten käyttäjien määrässä.

Hakuvinkit

  • Haku kohdistuu oletuksena myös julkaisujen kokoteksteihin. Advanced Search -haussa on mahdollista kohdistaa haku tarkemmin.
  • Katkaisumerkki: asteriski eli tähtimerkki *: cyberbull*  > cyberbully, cyberbullied, cyberbullies, cyberbullying.
  • Katkaisumerkkiä ei voi laittaa sanan alkuun (*tension) eikä lainausmerkkien sisään ("tobacco smok*"). 
  • Sanaliitot lainausmerkeissä: "heart attack".
  • Boolen operaattorit isoilla kirjaimilla: "artificial intelligence" OR ai OR "machine learning".
  • Oletusoperaattori AND: plastic* recycl*.
  • Login / Register: tallenna hakuja, uutuusvahteja ja viitteitä.

Viitteidenhallinta

  • Hakutuloksesta voi viedä 20 viitettä kerrallaan
    • Export Citations: esim. RIS-tiedostona
    • Mendeley Web Importer tai muu viitteidenhallintaohjelma.
  • Viite kerrallaan
    • Tools > Export citation
    • Mendeley Web Importer tai muu viitteidenhallintaohjelma.

Content and use

  • E-books and e-journals across a range of subjects from John Wiley & Sons.
  • To view only the book or article titles the University of Oulu has full access to is not possible. After conducting the search:
    • you may notice different designations for articles and books to which you have access (Full Access, Open Access, Free Access) 
    • use a link resolver University of Oulu Outbound Linking to check for full text article in a different database.
  • Articles and books can be read online via a browser.
  • Articles, books, and book chapters can be downloaded in PDF format, some books in EPUB too.
  • No restrictions on the number of concurrent users.

Search tips

  • The search default is set to search the full bibliographic record (all indexed fields) including the full text. Use the Advanced Search to create a more structured query, searching across different fields. 
  • Use an asterisk (*) to represent zero or more characters: cyberbull*  > cyberbully, cyberbullied, cyberbullies, cyberbullying.
  • Wildcards cannot be used at the start of a search term (*tension) or when searching for phrases in quotes ("tobacco smok*"). 
  • To search for a phrase, put the terms in quotes: "heart attack".
  • Boolean operators must be entered in UPPERCASE to work: "artificial intelligence" OR ai OR "machine learning".
  • If more than one term is entered, and no operators are specified, terms are searched using AND: plastic* recycl*.
  • Login / Register: save searches, alerts and references.

Reference management

  • From search results 20 references at a time
    • Export Citations: e.g. RIS file
    • Mendeley Web Importer or other reference management software
  • References one by one
    • Tools > Export citation
    • Mendeley Web Importer or other reference management software.
